Product Details
+Button jaws are extremely versatile and are designed for the re-mounting of bowls in order to remove marks created by the chuck and to add decoration. In addition, they are used to re-shape the bottoms of bowls and vases that have already been turned. Button jaws are commonly used in the compression mode, however, dependent on the bowl design, button jaws can be used to grip in expansion mode. The 125mm diameter jaws are supplied with eight long and eight short screw-in buttons that are manufactured from a synthetic polymer that will not mark the bowl. In compression mode they will grip bowl diameters from 120mm to 54mm.
These button jaws are machined from a special grade of medium-tensile steel, which is normally used for the manufacture of high performance turbo impellors, pistons and gears. Using this steel allows for closer tolerances during the manufacturing process which results in excellent concentricity to minimize vibration and to ensure that a chatter-free, super fine finish can be achieved by the woodturner. ©
